Extradition Hearings

Extradition refers to the process for the surrender of an accused (or convicted person) by one country to another, usually under the provisions of a treaty or agreement. In Canada, the process is governed by the Extradition Act, the Charter and case law. If you are being sought be by another country for charges allegedly committed in that country, it is important that you discuss your case with counsel familiar with the extradition process. Even if you cannot successfully fight your extradition, you need a lawyer who can ensure that your rights are protected and that processes are put into place to ensure that you will ultimately receive a fair trial.
